Ingrid Ma, MHC

CO-FOUNDER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Ingrid is a licensed mental health counselor practicing at LionHeart Mental Health Counseling based in New York City. She is passionate about working with people of all ages and believes in meeting people where they are to empower and support them through their life journey.

Splitting her time between Hong Kong and New York, Ingrid saw the need for a global youth-led nonprofit to lessen the stigma of mental health around the world. Ingrid currently serves as the co-founder and executive director of dearYou Health.

Shawn Kim, DMD

CO-FOUNDER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Shawn is a dentist and a mental health activist. His passion for mental health advocacy began when he lost his high school best friend to major depression.

Shawn saw the need for global youth-led nonprofit when the pandemic led to increased mental health illnesses around the world. Shawn is currently the co-founder and executive director of dearYou Health. He is an adamant public speaker on issues regarding mental health stigma, burnouts in workplaces, and youth well-being.

Vanak Huot, MS, MPH, RDH

  • Vanak is a Public Health Professional and Prevention Specialist in Boston, MA. Growing up in a Cambodian household, she observed discussions around mental health concerns were stigmatized in the Asian and Asian American communities. One of her many goals for dearYou Health is to help the younger generation overcome cultural, religious, and other barriers to seek mental health support. Using social media, data-driven research, and existing mental health resources, she will increase the visibility of dearYou Health platform to a larger audience.

Stephanie Yeo

  • Stephanie is a recent graduate from UCLA and a law school hopeful. Her passion for mental health awareness began after many of her close friends communicated their struggles with depression and anxiety. Stephanie strives to provide a safe space for the youth to share their mental health journeys comfortably without fearing judgment.

    As the operations manager of dearYou Health, she hopes to share her story of fighting mental health stigma and provide resources to assist the youth who are going through similar challenges.

Ilker Ciliv

  • Ilker is currently furthering his studies at Columbia University in New York. Born and raised in Istanbul before moving to London, his journey has been enriched by diverse cultural experiences. Mental health has always been a subject close to his heart. Growing up, he witnessed firsthand the impact of mental health challenges in various communities, which deeply resonated with him. Ilker’s own mental health journey has been a significant part of his life, teaching him resilience and empathy. He’s been actively involved in initiatives aimed at promoting mental health awareness and support systems for students.

Arine Kim

  • Arine is currently a junior at UCLA, aiming for a career in Product Marketing. She advocates for destigmatizing mental illness due to her own experiences in foster care and struggles with mental health. Previously, Arine worked at a non-profit advocating for foster youth at the state legislative level. As a child of immigrants, she aims to create a safe space for minorities to learn about mental health. Arine utilizes her social media platform to advocate for Asian-Americans, foster youth, and mental health. Through therapy with an Asian-American professional, she realized the importance of considering race, religion, and culture on well-being. As the community engagement lead, she hopes to connect her generation with health professionals of similar backgrounds.

Sarah Park

  • Sarah is a senior at UCLA aspiring to become a pediatrician. Having witnessed her friends' battles with depression and anxiety, she realized the importance of spreading awareness and support for those with mental health struggles. In her future career as a physician, she aspires to create a welcoming space for people to share their struggles and continue advocating for mental health awareness. As social media chair of dearYou health, she spreads positivity and knowledge, encouraging individuals to share their stories and seek help, emphasizing that mental health is a lifelong journey.
